Aces up - A two pair hand with one of the pairs being Aces.

Ante - Money that has been put into the pot before the deal takes place.

Back in - A strong hand is checked, and then raised, after another player has opened the betting.

Bad Beat - Losing even though you were dealt a great hand.

Big Blind - the big blind is the bigger of the two bets. This is normal in Texas Hold'em Poker games.

Blind - A compulsory bet that has to be made before any cards are dealt.

Blind bet - This is when a forced bet must be made without knowing the value of the holdings.

Bluff - Going on with the game even though you have a weak hand.

Bonus - It is an extra payment for having a strong hand such as a straight flush or royal flush.

Call - Also known as 'Call a bet' or 'seeing a bet'. When you make a bet, which is the same as a previous, bet made on the same round.

Card Speak
- The winner is decided by showing the cards rather than declaration by the player.

Check - Also known as 'pass'. This is the option used by a player before a bet has been made, to not bet and pass the bet option to the next player.

Deadwood - this is the name given to the pile of discarded cards. This pile usually consists of folded cards or discarded cards of players.

Drawing Hand
- This is when you get a good hand but it needs one more card to make it a complete winner.

Drop - When a player folds or leaves the game.

Free ride - All players pass in the round and no bets are made.

Limit - The maximum amount allowed for a bet to be made or raised. There can be high limit and low limit Poker games.

Nuts - This is when you get the best cards possible. Getting dealt a high value hand.

Open - The first bet on the first round.

Pot - All the money and chips bet during a game.

Tell - When a player's body language gives away his game.

Under the Gun - The player seated to the left of the dealer. He has to make the first bet.

Wild card - The jokers that are in the pack. The value of it can be decided by a player.
